Background

Agarwood is a valuable essential oil, traditional Chinese herb medicine, incenses and statues carved materials. In order to promote the international exchange of ideas and collaboration in research on these plants, the Taiwan Society of Agarwood cordially invites all interested parties to participate in the International Conference on Agarwood(ICA 2013). The conference will be held at the MingDao University, Peetow, Changhaw, Taiwan in the year 2013.

Location

Taiwan is in the subtropics. The average temperature in September is about 27. The county of Changhua is located in central Taiwan. Changhua is an agricultural county. It is famous for its horticulture and ornamental plants. The meeting place, MingDao University, is in the south of Changhua. The countryside has outstanding scenery, such as Sun Moon Lake and recreational resorts on beautiful mountains.

How to reach Mingdao University

Taipei Airport is the closest international airport, three hours by car. There are frequent buses connecting the airport and Yuanlin Township close to Mingdao University.

Call for Papers

The conference will include invited oral presentations, oral presentations and poster presentations, and poster presentation (60 cm x 90 cm). Authors are asked to indicate their preference for an oral or poster presentation, but the organizers will choose the final style of the presentation. Authors of oral and poster presentations are invited to submit abstracts of not more than 250 words before 31 July 2013. Abstracts can be forwarded to the local organizer via email or on line. 4. Full registration fee: US$ 150.
5. Student registration fee: US$ 100.
6. Accompanying person fee: US$ 100. In all cases the fee will cover the costs for 2 lunches, 1 dinner, a banquet and coffee breaks. Full and student registrations will also receive an abstract book.
7. Local participant registration fee: NT$ 750.
8. Local student registration fee: NT$ 400.
9. Agarwood product exhibition fee: US$ 100. Display for a desk (180cm x 50cm).
10. Financial assistance: Local organizing committee offers financial assistance for national delegates. Applications please send curriculum vitae, abstract and recommend letter to the conference secretariat.


Field Trip and Tour
The field trip and sightseeing tour will be organized. Minimum numbers are fifteen persons.
Sunday 29 September: Full day tour of agarwood plantation and incenses culture, Yunlin. Cost: 50 US$ per person. This fee includes a lunch.
