Date: July 14th
2008 to August 3rd 2008

deadline: June

Ming Dao University’s
Chinese summer school is more than an intensive language program. It
will give students a practical foundation in conversational Mandarin. It
is also a course designed to give students a deeper understanding of a culture in an increasing dynamic and important area of the world.
An
unforgettable learning experience set on a beautiful campus in the
middle of vibrant Taiwan is planned. The large campus is carefully
designed with great care to proportion, location and design of the 6
main campus buildings. Modern architecture has been successfully
incorporated into a picturesque landscaped setting, where one fourth of
the land is preserved as natural wetlands. |
|
The course is designed for people with limited or no knowledge
of Mandarin. This program will emphasis communication in small
classes with authentic, practical tasks to facilitate language
learning.
Introductory classes in calligraphy, brush stroke painting,
poetry, Chinese cuisine and seal carving are also intergraded
into the course. A communicative approach and mastering certain
cultural tasks will enhance active participation in learning
inside and outside of the classroom.
The Chinese cuisine lessons will introduce basic principles
utensils and produce used in Chinese cuisine. Expert chefs will
also supervise students in MDU’s purpose built culinary
classrooms.
Chinese
workshop classes will normally be held in the morning from
Monday to Thursday. Many activities, social events and outings
are planned for the afternoons and evenings. Chinese cuisine
classes are an exception and will be held on Wednesday
afternoons. Friday through to Sunday are reserved for the long
weekend trips around the island. |
