Introduction about Department
In response to the rapid growth of optics and photonics in Taiwan, the Institute of Eletro-Optical Engineering (IEOE) was founded under the College of Applied Science and Technology, Mingdao University in 2007.
IEOE started to offer MSc. program in 2007, recruiting students with a variety of backgrounds from optoelectronics, physics, engineering, to material science.
In 2009, IEOE merged with the Department of Energy and became the name of Department of Eletro-Optical Engineering and Energy (DEOE).
The goal of DEOE are (1) to create and develop the intellectual and human capital in Optics and Photonics, which benefits the academic and economic enrichment of the country (2) to promote the technology of green Photonics and Energy, in order to solve the problem of oil crises.
Since established, IEOE has been devoting to the education, research, and technology developments, thus holding a high reputation in both academic research and industrial collaborations in Taiwan. Current research in IEOE covers optical design, solid-state lighting, electro-optical testing and measurement, hologram and 3D display, photonic crystals, optical storage, fuel cells, heat transfer, wind power generation, solar cells, bio-photonics, and electro-optics.
